Commission

How to Order or Commission my work

The best way to achieve the results you look for, it’s through the process of commissioning; a simple step by step experience that will take us to a happy ending.

Of course, a commission is required when the size and extent of the work are significant; simply, the more investment, the better it is to have it formally documented and tracked for transparency. In some other cases, it might not be necessary. I encourage you to reach out (Send a Message below) to understand how to proceed.

Craftsmanship via commission implies certain freedom to build the pieces as required, but always under a common agreement and final objective in mind: A chair will look and function as a chair. Wood species, finish, function, we should be able to agree upon, but structural elements such joints or similar, I will be deciding to make the piece last. I may recommend certain aesthetics to enhance the proportion or look of the final product.

My Current Status:

Taking Commissions! please read below (and check out the latest project in my Instagram)

Currently I’m making another patron happy. Please Send me a message and I will contact you with options.

Here is the process:

  1. First, you initiate contact by sending me a message (see below) describing briefly what you are looking for, things like:
    • What type of furniture you are looking for
    • what type of wood
    • rough dimensions
    • time frame
  2. I will call you back to go over your idea and expand some details; this will give us an initial impression to determine if there is a good fit to continue.
  3. I will then prepare a high level proposal on how the final product could be, and call you to discuss, or even meet personally. It will include a sketch, materials, price range, and potential delivery dates
  4. if there is an agreement, then the journey starts. At this point, to formalize the commission, I will require a small fee (to cover the initial investment) to produce a formal quote with details; CAD drawings, material list, timeline, etc. which will serve as reference for the actual commissioning contract. This fee is non refundable, but if the journey continues, it will be credited towards the final price.
  5. A second discussion takes place to finalize the details of the commission, and if we are both comfortable, a contract is signed. At that point, a deposit of 50% of the total value of the commission is expected to start work.
  6. I go on with my craftsmanship and will keep you updated regularly with pictures if necessary.
  7. Close to the completion of the commission, I will contact you to arrange the delivery
  8. Delivery takes place, and at that time, the balance is due.

My Guarantee

I guarantee my work for 18 months (well over a full weather season cycle) for any issue related to the craftsmanship under normal usage, but cannot guarantee the main material, wood, as it’s a natural resource that may develop imperfections due to natural conditions (humidity, stress, etc.).
